Books & Scores
A book carries the magic written into it. Its entries stay with that particular book when it is dropped, stored or handed to a companion.

Making a Blank Book
A Blank Book is made from 40 Paper, 1 Ink and 1 Leather at either the Writing table or the Theatre's Sheet Music Stand. A Wizard's first spell or Scroll turns the selected book into a Spellbook; a Bard's first song or Sheet Music turns it into a Score. Taking out the last entry never changes its kind back.
Both stations make the same Blank Book. The recipe takes 1 second, and its fee equals its sell value, paid from the hero's purse. A Blank Book cannot serve as a casting focus. Only Wizards and Bards fill these books, using their own kind of entry.
The first entry
Choose a Blank Book in the Spells window. Write in the first level-up spell or bind in a Scroll as a Wizard to make a Spellbook. Write in the first song or bind in Sheet Music as a Bard to make a Score. The entry is kept, the same book remains selected, and only that book converts if you carry several.
Starting Wizards and Bards already have a filled Spellbook or Score. Each gains two new spell choices per hero level, written into a selected book. With no suitable book in the bag, the choices wait. Writing a level-up choice uses that choice, without an additional Ink or MP cost.
Spellbook and Score
A Wizard draws on the spells in every Spellbook in his own bag. A Bard does the same with his Scores. A same-class companion may use a book you give them, but your access goes with it. Clerics do not need a book: they use their Holy Relic.
Binding in and tearing out
A Wizard binds a Scroll into a Spellbook; a Bard binds Sheet Music into a Score. The spell must belong to the class list, be a level the hero can cast, and not already be in that selected book. Binding uses up one loose item and makes its entry reusable. Scrolls do not go into Scores, and Sheet Music does not go into Spellbooks.
Confirm a tear-out to remove any entry and receive its loose Scroll or Sheet Music. It can be cast once, sold, or bound in again. No page count is tracked, and books have no entry limit. An emptied Spellbook remains a Spellbook, and an emptied Score remains a Score, with its own icon.
Keeping books safe
Blank Books, Spellbooks and Scores are excluded from both buying and selling at the Market. You can still craft them, store them, drop them and give them to companions. Stored books do not grant casting access. A filled book's value is the blank book materials' sell value plus the sell value of its entries; this is not a Market sale option.
